Allison Retina Stewart — A multi-disciplinary creative passionate about design, diversity, community, and creative excellence with 10+ years of industry experience working in media, sports, and advertising.
I am the founder and director of Free Juice, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to increasing diversity in photography through mentorship. My passion in this field lies in connecting with others and bringing them together. This notion of community is my approach to encouraging and supporting resourceful collaboration between present professionals and the next generation of photographers.
I'm currently the Photo Editor at Godfrey Dadich, working alongside an award-winning team to curate visual narratives for companies like Nike, Abstract, IBM, Microsoft, and Adyen.
My personal work has appeared on Afropunk, The Photographer's Gallery, aCurator, and The Lark.
The Underground Project
During her time at Parsons, Stewart directed and produced the short film “The Underground Project,” an intimate series of interviews with young black hip hop musicians on their personal career aspirations and how they differ from the mainstream stereotypes typically cast upon them. The film was selected as Juror’s Choice by ACurator’s Julie Grahame in Parson’s 2015 Thesis Show.
