WHY BARRETT?
Built in the community, not simply placed in it.
Barrett Station is history, family, and place. Baked N Barrett is designed to participate in the economic life of that community while building a brand relevant across Houston and beyond. A permanent location creates local employment, vendor relationships, and neighborhood commerce, under a consumer brand that carries Barrett in its name.
The ambition is local and scalable.
Build something worth traveling to.
Build something the neighborhood can call its own.
ROOTED IN OWNERSHIP
In 1889, Harrison Barrett, born into slavery, purchased land here for 50 cents an acre and established Barrett’s Settlement, creating one of the largest landholdings in Harris County acquired by a formerly enslaved person.
Cookies + plants, built to come home to.

The Story So Far
It started in my classroom.
Baked N Barrett started in a high school art classroom on Thursday afternoons.
While teaching art at Crosby High School, Thursdays meant Showtime, a standing invitation for students to get in front of their classmates, share something, and be a little braver than the week before. I started baking cookies for those Thursdays, and over the course of the year, my students helped shape the recipe one batch at a time.
“Less cinnamon. More butter. The right amount of softness in the center.”
Cookies became part of the ritual. The students looked forward to them every week, but what stayed with me was everything that formed around them: familiarity, conversation, encouragement and community.
What began as something made for my classroom is now becoming something those students, their families and the larger community can come home to.
Baked N Barrett is the next chapter of that idea: a cookie and plant shop rooted in Barrett Station, bringing together my own recipes, thoughtful gifting, plants, local artists and community experiences.
It carries forward much of what I have always built through teaching and curating, just in a different form.
And with better smells.
Founder story - Meet Allison.
Allison Retina Stewart-Creeks is a Houston-area creative director, curator, photographer and educator with more than a decade of experience building brands, campaigns, programs and creative communities. Experience across Meta, Microsoft, Nike, the NBA, cultural institutions and 100+ artists and creatives supported.
Baked N Barrett applies that experience differently.
Product, packaging, programming, retail environment, customer experience, storytelling and community are being treated as one connected system rather than separate pieces of the business.
What began as a classroom cookie is now being approached with the same discipline Allison has spent her career applying to brands and cultural experiences: understand the audience, create something worth remembering and build the systems required to sustain it.
